Content is still king, but have we heard it all before?

Content is still the key to lead generation, but we are bored of the same old. To grab the world’s attention you need fresh innovative content; to hold the world’s attention you need to re-define your ideas. Even if you have had success with an idea or a product in the past, the world moves on very quickly and once your ideas are published they are fair game.

Creating regular content for your blog, website and social media channels is an important part of your pr and marketing strategy. This content is not only a summary of your ideas; it becomes a platform from which you can create business opportunities.

However in today’s mass media, digital frenzy…. vanilla content is lost.

Thought leaders are expected to inspire people and move them to action. Followers wish to replicate their success and find guidance in their ideas and experience. Thought leaders need to create new content and new ways of thinking to remain innovative.

Consider these 3 simple guidelines when you are creating new content:

Take a stance on a hot topic

Current news topics offer an opportunity to news jack content, which is already in the public eye. It is, however, important to have a clear point of view that is relevant to your industry or marketing strategy. Give your own opinion and to keep things fresh look at the points others may have missed.

Share a personal experience

Use your experience or share a story that offers insight to your personal life and thinking. When creating a personal brand these stories will offer your audience access to your world and help to build rapport with your community.

Impart wisdom

Use your blog to share your expertise. Giving a way a few secrets and advice will help you to gain a following. Do not regurgitate other people’s ideas; rather, explain what works for you. Create content that is beneficial to the reader. Publishing a series of posts will encourage return visitors.

Remember it is not enough to post a blog and hope people will come! You need to let your community and potential community know it’s there and open yourself to business opportunities. Use social media platforms to refer to your content and set up a social share facility to encourage readers to do the same. Ultimately you want people to share your ideas, get on board with your cause, and become a part of your community.

If your USP is no longer unique, refresh how you present your ideas.

The content you share is the window to lead generation. It is the initial part of your sales journey whether you are selling services, products or advice. Your website is your online sales platform; it has your bio, products, ideas, images and affiliation. Create opportunities for people to discover your ideas and interact with you through your content.

Is your content fresh? Or have we heard it all before?
